would you mind introducing yourself in case some ppl dont know you?
--
well, i'm just. some weird little creature making wierd little music. my inspiriation comes from a very wide range of things - and i dont realy have a focused genre that i make - but most things i make can be classified as "experimental". i try to do a litte bit of everything, that being production, mixing, writing, vocals, graphic design, video editing, photography, etc. i've been making music for about 5 or 6 years now - i use fl studio, and have for about 4 years. that's about it tbh :3
--
how'd you start making music, and how has your style and mindset regarding producing music grown over the years?
--
as embarrasing as this is, i first started wayyy back in 2017/2018 after making a mo bamba minecraft parody. so thats some fun lore. i started out on a shitty online daw called "soundtrap" making,,, not good,, rap music asdjhajskgdasjkdhsjlkhfsdjg i slowly transitioned into more indie + edm music before eventually making the switch to fl studio late 2019/early 2020 (dont member) . i geniunley almost quit music until i discovered jane remover in 2021 through teen week, and eventually , frailty . that album completley revitalized my love for music and creativity - and soon after - i started to disregard any rules or genres i had stuck to previous and just. make. and now we're here.

where'd the name soundboi come from?
--
funnily enough, through steam i think? i dont quite remember why but my steam name was "boi" for a while - most likely due to my awful cringe personality back then - and it carried onto my music when i first started posting it (on yotoube (and promptly deleted msot if not all of it)). soundboi fully started around when i made my soundcloud account, and it was like. 99% inspired by tf2 youtuber soundsmith's name. i just kinda adopted it onto all platforms since then and it's just kinda sorta become my default mantra - it's slowly been replaced via "nocturnnne" in specific circumstances but. not much. not to spoil much but "soundboi" definetley will not be sticking as a name for much longer :>

recently you've been releasing a lot of "TAPE" stuff, where'd the initial concepts for the TAPE albums // eps come from?
--
you're really, REALLY inspired by Jane Remover; is there something in specific about her production style that speaks out to you?
--
what's a genre you think is underrated?
--
you've been teasing some TAPE 2 stuff as nocturnnne, any reason why?
--
once the TAPE stuff is done, what do you expect to do?
--
any big announcements you can make?
